A safe & effective way to rejuvenate skin and treat scars & wrinkles
Microneedling is cost-effective, and can be done in areas where chemical peels or laser resurfacing cannot
Micro-needling - sometimes you'll hear it called collagen induction therapy - is a simple, fast and safe treatment for wrinkles and scars. Because the top layer of skin, the epidermis, stays intact, the procedure can be repeated safely. It’s widely used to improve fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, and acne scars.
When a micro-needling device is used with topical serums, the skin’s absorption of vitamins, enzymes, lipids, and other ingredients is enhanced. The repair process begins almost immediately.
The treatment can take as little as 30 minutes or as long as 1 1/2 hours depending on the size of the area you have treated.
Multiple treatments are necessary. The number of sessions depends on the skin condition being treated.
Microneedling Step by Step
Because micro-needling doesn’t produce the heat that lasers do, there is little risk of developing dark spots after treatment. Because no tissue is removed, there's little risk of infection. It’s another reason the recovery time is so short – and another advantage of micro-needling for an active lifestyle. Micro-needling pens like the SkinPen are ergonomically designed, and the needle depth is adjustable. This means just about any part of your body can be treated. Micro-needling can improve fine lines or scars near your eyes and mouth. Lasers and peels can’t. It’s also able to treat areas on the neck, chest, abdomen, back, hands, arms, and legs. Medical grade micro-needling pens create hundreds of vertical microscopic channels in the skin. These pens are motorized and allow precise control of the needle depth – from 0.25 to 2.5 mm. A thin layer of hyaluronic acid is applied to your skin, and the practitioner selects the depth needed. The pen is gently moved across your skin until the treatment area has been covered. Topical lidocaine cream makes the procedure virtually painless. Medical needling is being used for acne scars, fine lines, skin tightening, and to shrink pores. The face, neck, and chest are the most treated areas, although the pens can be used all over the body.
Is a skin treatment procedure that involves an electric skin-needling device. The device contains 12 very fine needles. It is used during micro-needling procedures to break down old scar tissue and push skin cell generation. Cell production leads to the creation of new layers of elastin and collagen fiber and leads to improved blood flow in the skin. After the treatment most people will notice redness and mild swelling similar to slight sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be slight pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Skin will be noticeably smoother and more radiant within a week or two. Full results will take a few months to appear.
Medical microneedling is safe on all skin types and colors. Skin microneedling can be used on sensitive and fragile areas (eyes, neck, back of hands) that cannot be treated easily with other procedures. Microneedling is not suitable for patients who have used Accutane (isotretinoin) within the last three months, have open wounds, cuts or abrasions, have had radiation skin treatment within the last year, are suffering from any skin infection, condition, or herpes simplex in the area of concern, are pregnant or breast-feeding, have any history of keloid or hypertrophic scars or poor wound healing.
Some of the conditions that medical microneedling is known to improve include: mild to moderate acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, skin texture and pore size, and stretch marks
